Thymic Dipeptide Immune Modulator

Thymogen (Glu-Trp) is a synthetic dipeptide bioregulator derived from thymic tissue extracts, closely related to Vilon (Lys-Glu) but with distinct receptor binding properties and immunomodulatory effects. Thymogen has a particularly well-documented clinical history in Russia, where it has been registered as a pharmaceutical preparation since 1989 for immunodeficiency states, infectious diseases, and as an immunotherapy adjuvant. Its mechanism centers on restoration of T-lymphocyte differentiation, particularly the maturation of thymocyte precursors into functional effector T-cells.

1. Thymogen interacts with thymic epithelial cells, stimulating the production of thymic factors (thymosin, thymopoietin) that drive thymocyte maturation.
2. T-cell receptor (TCR) repertoire diversity is enhanced through improved positive and negative selection in the thymic cortex and medulla.
3. CD4+ helper T-cell differentiation is promoted, restoring the helper cell populations that orchestrate adaptive immune responses.
4. Phagocytic activity of neutrophils and macrophages is enhanced through T-cell-derived cytokine normalization (IFN-γ, GM-CSF).
5. Regulatory T-cell function is normalized, preventing both immunodeficiency and autoimmune overshoot.
