Prostamax is a Khavinson bioregulator peptide (short peptide bioregulator, or SPB) derived from prostate glandular tissue through the acid extraction and ultrafiltration process developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Khavinson bioregulators are tissue-specific peptides (typically 2–4 amino acids) that bind complementary DNA sequences in gene promoter regions, modulating transcription of tissue-specific genes. Prostamax selectively interacts with prostate epithelial cell chromatin, normalizing gene expression patterns involved in prostatic secretory function and cellular proliferation control.

1. Prostamax peptides penetrate the cell nucleus and bind specific DNA sequences in the promoter regions of prostate-specific genes through electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions.
2. This binding modulates chromatin condensation state, making gene promoters more or less accessible to transcription factor complexes.
3. Genes involved in normal prostatic secretory function (PSA regulation, zinc transporter expression, citrate metabolism) are upregulated toward youthful expression levels.
